Switching Your Phone On/Off Make sure the SIM card is in your device and the battery is charged. Setting Up Your Phone for the First Time When you firet power on your phone after you purchase it or reset it to faclory settings (see chapter Sorting out Your Phone Settings - Pivacy: Reset to Factory Seftings), you need to do some settings before using it. Tap Menu Key in the slandby mode, then select System settings > Language & input > Language to change the Getting Around Your Phone Touch Control You can use finger gestures to control your phone. Removing ltem from Your Home Screen '1. Press Home Key to retum to the Home Screen.' 2. 3. Tap and hold the item you want to delete until the remove icon appears on the top of the screen. DEg the item to the remove icon and release your finger when the item turns red. Extended Home Screen Status and Notification lcons The Home Scr@n extends beyond the screen width, giving you loads more space to add more stuff. Simply slide your finger to the left or right. Likewise if you remove all attachments and the subject from an MMS, it'll automatically become a lext message. Message Settings The phone's message settings are pre€nfigured foryou to use immediately. To change them, tap Menu Key > Settings from the Messaging Screen. NOTE: From SMS settings screen tap Menu Key > Restore default settings to change the messa.ge settings back to the original. Touch lnput Settings Choose the touch input settings by tapping Menu Key > System settings > Language & input from Home Screen ln the KEYBOARD & INPUT METHODS section, you can choose the settings that You need. Getting Connected to the lnternet Your phone's impressive networking capabilities allow you to aress the lntemet or your corporate network with easeYou mn use default @nnection settings lo connect to the lnternet via your mobile network, or Wi-Fi. Turning On Wi-Fi Wi-Fi provides wireless lnternet a6ess over distances of up to about 300 feet. E 1. Checking the Wi-Fi Network Status You can check the Wi-Fi network by looking at the the status bar. Enabling USB tethering TIPS: The PC accesses the lntemet via the phone's mobile network. Therefore, set up the networks connection mrrectly before you try to use the phone as a modem. Press Home Key > tap Menu Key > System settings > More (WRELESS & NETWORKS) > Tethering & portable hotspot and tick the USB tethering check box. Disabling USB tethering Press Home Key > tap Menu Key > System settings > More (WIRELESS & NETWORKS) > Tethering & portable hotspot and clear the USB tethering check box. You can also just pull out the USB cable. Enabling the Wi-Fi Hotspot You can use the phone as a portable WLAN router, to share your phone's inlernet @nnection with one or more PC or other . devices. Tap Menu Key > Bookmarks/History and select a bookmark or history to open. NOTE: . When the portable Wi-Fi hotspot function is enabled, you can't use your phone's appli€tions lo access the intemet via its Wi-Fi @nnection. Yru en configure the WlFi hotspot as follows: 1.
