Adding a Safety Plan to a Work Order
A safety plan describes hazards and precautions, hazardous materials, lock
outs and tag outs that apply to specific assets and locations. You create and
view safety plans on the Safety Plan tab. When you are creating safety plans
for a work order you want to consider the asset or location that is being
worked on, but also any hazards that might exist in the surrounding area.
You can create a safety plan in one of the following ways:
!
Associate a safety plan with the work order by entering a value in the
Safety Plan field on the Work Order tab. After you select a safety plan,
Maximo copies the information to the Safety Plan tab of the work order.
Once Maximo has copied the safety plan to the work order it can be
modified as needed.
!
Associate a job plan with the work order by entering a value in the Job
Plan field on the Work Order tab. If the combination of the job plan and
the work asset (asset or location) listed on the work order require a safety
plan, Maximo copies the safety information to the Safety Plan tab of the
work order. Once Maximo has copied the safety plan to the work order it
can be modified as needed.
!
Create a custom safety plan using the Safety Plan tab. Defining a safety
plan consists of the following tasks:
!
Enter a Location or Asset on the Work Order tab. Location records
are created in the Locations application. Asset records are created in
the Assets application.
!
Define the safety hazards to include on the safety plan. You can select
hazards using the Select Safety Hazards action, or add them to the
Hazards table window. Maximo copies information for the selected
hazard to the appropriate subtab. Hazard records are created in the
Hazards application.
!
Define the Hazardous Materials that apply to the safety plan.
Hazardous materials information is defined on a hazard record.
!
Define the tag outs procedures that apply to the asset or location. Tag
outs records are created in the Lock Out/Tag Out application.
You can add a safety plan to a work order until the status of the work order is
APPR (Approved). Your system administrator determines which work order
statuses allow editing of Safety Plan information.
