SINE SAVER User's Manual Introduction SINE SAVER is a regenerative converter (active rectifier). Sine Saver may be used alone as a high quality reactive power compensator or in conjunction with other equipment to transfer power between AC and DC systems in both directions, at any desired power factor on the AC side. The AC side line currents are near perfect sine waves. Applications Typical Sine Saver applications include: Ultra low harmonic rectifier for AC motor inverters or similar equipment Line side converter for 4Q AC motor inverters Alternative energy systems Energy recovery from DC systems (eg railways) Reactive power compensation - power factor COS(Ø) correction Line voltage stabilization for weak distribution lines (eg rural areas) Operating modes In order to accommodate a wide range of applications, Sine Saver can be programmed to achieve the following : DC link voltage regulator (AC line ç , è DC link) Ultra low harmonic rectifier for AC motor inverters or similar equipment 4Q AC motor control inverters for elevators, hoists, high inertia industrial applications (centrifuge etc) Reactive power compensator (AC line) Reactive power compensator - power factor COS(Ø) correction AC line voltage regulation - can be used to stabilise the voltage of weak electricity distribution lines in rural areas at a much lower cost and better performance than re-building the distribution line. Energy recovery converter (DC link è AC line) Alternative energy systems Energy recovery from DC systems (railways) Applications with multiple AC motor drives on a common DC link Surplus capacity can be used for power factor correction in any mode Note: Regulation of the DC link voltage is an essential part of all operating modes and is always active.
