A Report on the Effect of
unitedstreaming on Educational Performance
In August 2002, the results of the first scientific evaluation were released by Cometrika,®
an independent research group, with assistance from Longwood University Institute for Teaching
Through Technology and Innovative Practices (ITTIP). Cometrika’s experimental group / control
group study of more than 1,400 elementary and middle school students in three school districts in
Virginia, showed an average increase of 12.6% in the test scores of students exposed to
content in science and social studies using unitedstreaming, an application published and
distributed by Discovery Education of Evanston, Ill.. This study on unitedstreaming and
student achievement can be found at the International Society for Technology in
