UPA’98 Report RESTRICTED COMMERCIAL scale also shows the 95% confidence intervals around the median – that is, the range within which we are 95% certain that the true median of the user population lies. All of the median scores were below 50, indicating that the TaskTimer for Windows 2.0 is generally perceived by the participants as worse than ‘average’ software in all areas analysed and that it would be unfavourably received in the market place as a result. The low scores for both affect and helpfulness should cause concern, with both upper confidence limits below 50. After installation and 20 minutes familiarisation, the users like the software less, and find it less helpful, than average software. This is unlikely to leave them with a favourable impression to recommend purchasing it, and thus indicates a strategic failure of the demonstration version. UPA’98/CUE/Report/v1 14/Error!
