3.3.3.2.2.4.- DVB-S2
Option
This functionality enables the obtaining of quality measurements of a DVB-S2 signal. The
information window is identical to that of the measures DVB-S, DVB-C and DVB-T. The
following sub-menu appears on selecting this function:
- DVB-S2 Measures -
The measure used for evaluating signal quality is Link Margin (dB), that indicates how “far
away” the signal is from the degradation point. Therefore, the greater the Link Margin,
the better the signal. As well as this measure, three others are given: CBER, MER and
BCHBER (BCH error correction algorithm bit error rate).
The available measures for a DVB-S2 are: Power, C/N, Link Margin, BER, BCHBER and
MER.
3.3.3.2.2.4.1.- Parameters
Option
The only parameter necessary to define for DVB-S2 signal measurement is symbol
velocity. The parameter of speed symbol can be in AUTO mode (in this case the meter will
automatically identify the symbol rate; once found it can be displayed in the window of
parameters), or may it can be selected from the dropdown velocities of most likely symbol.
You can also enter the symbol rate directly using the keypad. The meter has defined the
most common: 27500, 24500, 22000, 15000, but you can also enter any other value by
using the numeric keypad.
