ASI Input Option for Cascading
The optional ASI Input interface enables input for an
ASI level transport stream. The main function of the
ASI IN interface is cascading the encoder to another
slave encoder.

This feature enables cascading at up to 30 Mbps (comparing to the regular
cascading over RS-422 interface, up to 20 Mbps effective bit rate). The ASI
Input interface is using the ASI OUT-3 connector (BNC type connector).
NOTE
When the ASI Input interface is used, the RS-422 HSD input is disconnected.

Encoder Audio Input Interfaces
The E-1000 Series Encoders features the following audio input options:
• Stereo Analog Audio Channels, 2 or 4 channels
• Stereo Digital AES/EBU Audio Channels, 2 or 4 channels
• Dolby encoded Digital Audio Channels, 2 channels
NOTE
Stereo Embedded Audio over SDI is provided via the Serial Digital Interface on the
Composite/SDI Video Input Panel or the SDI Video Input Panel (refer to paragraph
1.4.4.1).
Figure 1-14 shows the location of the Audio Input connectors on the E-1000 rear
panel.
