CODICO® E-1000 Series
MPEG-2 Professional Encoders
1.4.7.3.
G.703 Output Interface Option
The addition of a G.703 interface board to the E-1000 Series enables the
encoder to support an unframed G.703 interface with or without FEC. The
encoder supports G.703 E1, E2 and E3 standards, using different boards. The
interface uses the ASI-2 and ASI-3 connectors, both delivering identical output
streams.
Balanced G.703 E1 output is provided over the RS-422 OUTPUT1 connector.
FEC is implemented in accordance with the DVB-C algorithm. In order to
enable/disable FEC, each of these boards contains a jumper strapping (JP1).
Removing the strapping disables FEC.
1.4.7.4.
DVB Scrambling Output Interface Option
The addition of a DVB scrambling board, the encoder is able to support
Fixed-key DVB scrambling over the ASI BNC outputs. This option is available
pre-installed at the factory or as hardware installation by one of the Scopus
Network Technologies field-technicians (this installation is not available as an
upgrade kit that can be installed by the user).
The E-1000 Series continues to provide Scopus proprietary encoder based
encryption, which is enabled on a software level via the terminal interface.
1.4.7.5.
RS-422 Output Interface
Two standard RS-422 output connectors (RJ-45 type, see Figure 1-16) provide
identical High Speed Data (HSD) output for cascading the encoder to another
SLAVE encoder.
When the G.703 E1 interface is installed, the RS-422 OUTPUT1 (left RS-422)
connector can be used to output G.703 E1 / Balanced level data.
1.4.8.
Encoder Control Interfaces
The E-1000 Series Encoders provides a wide range of interfaces for local/remote
control and monitoring. It includes the following (see Figure 1-17):
• Data Control over RS-232 Interface.
• Ethernet Interface for NMS-4000 control.
• Monitor Output, for connecting an external terminal.
• GPI Interface for status reports.
