Although magic works somewhat differently, most combat follows a straightforward mechanic: the difference
between the aggressor’s attack score and the opponent’s defense score, plus about 50, is the percentage
chance of the attack’s success. If it is, the target suffers a certain number of points of damage subtracted from
current health. However, each of those statistics—attack, defense, and damage—can be modified by a number
of additional factors, as explained in the following pages.
